Strobelite Seduction – Kaskade

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Strobelite Seduction is the fifth offering in as many years from Kaskade, aka Ryan Raddon. This album which is his first release on label Ultra has the potential to be his most commercially successful yet with plenty of mellow tracks with good beats and strong vocals. The first single ‘Move For Me’ is one of the standout tracks on the album. It has the potential to be both a club and radio hit in part thanks to the help of  producer Deadmau5 (who also co-produced the track ‘I Remember’). It is a signature Kaskade track much like his biggest hit ‘Just Be’, but on this track the vocals are cleaner , the synth much more electronic/geared for the club in typical Deadmau5 style, and in general it is just track that makes you want to dance. In summary, yes this is a Kaskade album with breathy vocals and laid back house tune, but this is Kaskade+electronic synths+Deadmau5+club-friendliness, all of which equals a great album.

In Search Of Sunrise 7: Asia – Tiësto

June 29, 2008 · Leave a Comment

In Search of Sunrise 7:Asia is the latest offering from trance genius Tiësto and it certainly stands up to the high standards he set with his previous Sunrise albums. The compilation was mixed on location in Thailand while Tiësto was on the Asian leg of his ‘Elements of Life’ tour, and the Asian influence can really been heard throughout. The compilation has a rather more upbeat feel than other Sunrise offerings while still keeping the chilled summer by the beach feel that is typical of the series.

Disc one: Opens with a very nature-inspired sound which puts you right in the rainforest. This in turn sets the tone for a very chilled out, mellow sound. The run in of the very slow and beautiful track 1 into an instant hit of bass and uplifting tones on the 2nd track is a highlight of the mix for me. This first disc is the pick of the two as you can feel the Asian influences and the tracks while being ultra-chilled and mellow are still uplifting.

Stand-out Track: Ride (Tiësto Remix) – Cary Brothers

Disc Two: A much faster pace than Disc one with more electronic beats. Definitely for putting on after the sun goes down and its time to dance.

Stand-out Track: Rush – Sied van Riel.

1. Banyan Tree – Feel The Sun Rise
2. Andy Duguid featuring Leah – Wasted

F*** Me I’m Famous (Vol. 4): Ibiza Mix ‘08 – Mixed By David & Cathy Guetta

June 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The best electro house compilation of 2008, this mix by DJ god David Guetta has something for every house music fan. From the completely catchy and upbeat ‘No Stress’ to the hard electronic ‘Apocolypse’ this is truly a great display of David’s producing abilities. Fans of his ‘Pop Life’ album might find this a little more electronic; however those of us who have been lucky enough to see David live or those have listened to his weekly radio show will recognise this as a true example of his talents. Best listened to loud from start to finish as the tracks run seamlessly into each other.

Stand out track: ‘Tomorrow Can Wait’ – David Guetta & Tocadisco.  This standout track, the fourth single from his Pop Life album is reinvented here with a deeper bass line – superb.
